Learn how to make video games by training yourself

The video game industry is a very robust industry and any one with a creative mind can just about fit into it. These days you don’t have to have a very sophisticated PC or Laptop to be able to create games. In fact I believe if you can play games you can very well make them.

Practice they say make perfect so the best place to start is to practice with designing simple games. You can start with designing simple Flash games and then move up the ladder to meet some more challenges later on with the sophisticated game design techniques.

Here is where to start from:

Graphic softwares: if you ever want to do anything in the line of video game then you have to learn some of these softwares used to design game graphics such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Flash, Zbrush, Maya, StudioMax 3D or any other one out there you can easily get your hands on. To find out more about any of these softwares just Google it. If you are able to get your hands on any of them then you have to start learning it right away. You can also find free tutorials on any of them by using the keyword: free tutorial on Adobe Photoshop, free tutorial on Maya etc. This will help you a long way in getting yourself started and getting used to these softwares.

By the time you have gotten a grip on these softwares you can then move further to learn more about programming languages such as C++, Visual Basic, Action script, Flash script etc. to learn more about this just search for the topic using the same method I showed you earlier.

You will also need to know about stuffs like Game engines, Graphic pipeline, software development kit and more. It will do you a lot good if you learn about the various game design platforms such as the PC platform, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PSP, Nintendo DS, Nintendo Wii and lots more. Now try visiting some game forums and ask questions, lots of them on any topic that interest you. When you are done doing this the next thing for you to do is to decide on which area you want to focus on because the game industry is a very robust one. You can pick your career choice from any of the popular ones such as Graphic designer, Game programmer, level designer, or any other one that interest you.

Once you have decided on the area you want to focus on the next thing to do is to try and do a short demo that you can show to your friends and family. Watch to see if they are impressed with your demo. You will know from their facial expression and remarks after playing the game. If you succeed in this stage of your presentation then you can start your search for a school where you can get professional training. Package this same demo into a presentable demo reel and then write an application to any school of your choice and wait patiently for a reply.

If you are lucky to get admitted to any game design school of your choice the next thing to do is to explore your mind! Open up your mental faculty to a higher level of creativity. Best of luck from me to you.

What really is blogging?

From my own experience I would say that blogging is a form of interactive web journal. I use the word interactive in the sense that you could either be a simple blogger who just write on topic of interest or you could be a vlogger (vlogger: that is someone who blogs with videos as his primary content of blogging) or even a mo-blogger (mo-blogger: someone who uses mobile phone to blog. Whichever means used as a primary or main content of blogging). The sole purpose is to communicate an idea or information to someone using the best possible means.

In order not to deviate from the topic of discussion blogging has different aspect to it but most importantly the main reason for blogging is to convey a message or information through text, video audio etc. To a marketer blogging is a great medium through which he can market his product, while to someone who just wants to announce him or herself to the world like an attention freak it is just a medium to express his or her thought. As it is most commonly done on Facebook people tell their friends what they are up to every now and then and they get feedback from their friends through the comments they post on their wall. Most times people don’t know they are engaging themselves in blogging but they enjoy the feedback though.

Blogging is fun if you do it right for the right purpose either to announce yourself to the world or to market a product. There is so much to talk about when it comes to blogging and we should be very much be interested in the topic as it still at its infancy stage but yet having some serious impact in the technology field in this ever changing world.

Do everything you want to do on your blog because it's your blog

Often times I read a lot of dos and don’ts on a lot of topic on blogging. If you are the type that wants to follow all those rules to the letter then I must tell you one real truth—you are missing the real thing. My advice to you on what to do and not do on your blog is simple and straight—do everything you want to do on your blog, write your articles on anything you wish to write about. Yes, including most of the don’ts you are advised not to write about on your blog. Feel free to express yourself, write your articles on those topics they tell you not to write about like; don't write about your cat, don’t talk about personal issues and what not.

The truth is that most of what you've been told are the best techniques, methods or things to do to attract people to your blog/website are things that are still undergoing experiments, some of them are still being tested and no one can really tell how long they can keep up with their performance as the internet is still evolving. Though, there are methods that have given good results over time. They are still some of those methods that begin to under-perform after some time and in most cases fail completely.

You have to think original. Give your blog a sense of ownership. Write articles on topics that interest you even when it goes against the rules of getting you more traffic. Ask yourself, what do I want my blog to be about? The choice has to be made between your own story and a lot of stereo types out there. But try as much as possible to be more presentable when you are writing about things that people might not be too interested in. Make your titles very catchy and attractive. Everybody needs a break sometimes and don't forget that your readers need that too, because they are humans too.
